The Acting Director of Public Prosecutions in the Western Cape has withdrawn charges against Jolene Alterskye following her representations in court.
Alterskye was the girlfriend of Jason Rohde who was convicted and sentenced to 20 years direct imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Susan Rohde and defeating the ends of Justice.
Alterskye was charged with five counts of criminal defamation and one for contempt of court following her disparaging remarks on social media against the justice system and the State.
Alterskye has made an unequivocal apology to Judge Salie-Hlophe who presided over the case.
A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority of the Western Cape Eric Ntabazalila says the apology was accepted by the court and the charges withdrawn.
Businessman and convicted wife killer Jason Rohde is currently out on bail pending the outcome of his appeal in the Supreme Court in Bloemfontein.
Susan Rodhe’s body was found in a locked bathroom in a room she shared with Rohde in July 2016 at the Spier Wine Estate Hotel in Stellenbosch.
Rohde staged the scene to look like a suicide.
