A Malawian national has been arrested for allegedly producing a variety of official documents including smart ID cards, passports, defence and police cards.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday in Meyerton in Johannesburg.
Gauteng's Community Safety MEC, Faith Mazibuko said the man allegedly began his illegal business in 2000.
She said he was also responsible for producing fake municipal account statements, police badges and drivers licences.
The suspect was operating from an Internet cafe which will be processed by the Provincial Fraud Unit of SAPS.
It is not yet clear when the suspect will appear in court.
