A University of the Free State student is facing possible expulsion after he faked his own death.
Thabiso Moholoholo was a second year BSc Environmental Studies student when he disappeared from the Bloemfontein campus last October.
Shortly after his disappearance a message saying he was dead and photos of him lying face down, covered in what seemed to be blood, were posted on his Facebook page.
This was followed by a similar SMS message to a friend.
However, the university said that police had found Moholoholo in QwaQwa and that the social media postings were bogus.
The student now faces possible disciplinary action and expulsion.
