Six suspects were killed in a shootout with law enforcement following a robbery in Germiston on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, said an integrated, multi-disciplinary team was responding to a tip-off about the robbery in the CBD.
She said the members were on the lookout for an SUV after "G4S was robbed" at Top Bets.
Mogale said the vehicle was spotted driving recklessly and when members attempted to stop the suspects, they opened fire.
She said law enforcement officers returned fire and the suspects lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a pole.
"Six suspects were fatally wounded and another suspect was in serious condition. An AK 47 rifle, four handguns, and the cash trolley have been recovered," Mogale said.
The vehicle that the suspects were using was reported to stolen in Brooklyn.
