A South African national and two Mozambican nationals have been arrested following the kidnapping of a Pakistani businessman and the murder of another Pakistani businessman.
Police spokesperson Lt Col Amanda van Wyk said: “SAPS organised crime led by intelligence have been working on a kidnapping case emanating from a business robbery in Ennerdale on 27 August 2024 in which two business partners were attacked at their hardware store.”
She said one was killed at the scene and the other man kidnapped for ransom.
“The kidnappers had demanded large sums of money for the victim.”
Lt Col Van Wyk said police arrested the suspects at various addresses in Gauteng on Sunday.
“The victim of kidnapping was rescued from an address in Lawley and reunited with his family.
“Two suspects are in policing holding cells while one is under police guard in hospital. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound after trying to disarm a police officer during his arrest.
“The three are facing charges of murder, kidnapping and attempted murder.”
