Free State police said six women and a man were brutally murdered on Lismore Farm in the Kestell District of the Free State.
Provincial Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, said the grim discovery was made today by the farm owner who found the bodies of the farmworkers inside their house on the farm.
He said they had been shot and killed by unknown suspects.
“The motive behind is not yet known. The names of the deceased and their ages are not yet known and couldn't be disclosed as their next-of-kin has not yet identified them formally,” he said.
Motantsi said the Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane has ordered an urgent mobilisation of maximum resources to make sure that perpetrators are brought to book.
General Motswenyane also extended condolences to the families of the victim.
