Free State police have made an early breakthrough in their investigation into the murder of seven farm workers near Kestell.
Police Spokesperson Brigadier Motantso Makhele says two suspects aged 34 and 22, were arrested less than 24 hours after the crime.
They were found on a road just outside the Bohloking township on Friday.
He says a shotgun and pellet gun, believed to have been stolen from the house was also confiscated.
The two men allegedly gunned down seven people at Lismore farm on Friday.
The farm owner made the gruesome discovery and alerted authorities.
The youngest victim was a 17-year-old boy while six women, aged between 22-53 were also killed.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Kestel Magistrates Court on Monday.
