The National Prosecuting Authority has welcomed the seven life terms imposed on the serial rapist, Elvis Zulu in the Mpumalanga High Court.
Spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, says Zulu, was also sentenced on Wednesday to additional 83 years following his conviction on 22 charges that included nine counts of rape.
She said he was also convicted on six counts of kidnapping, three counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, three counts of pointing a firearm, and one count of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Nyuswa says Zulu’s reign of terror started from January 2011 to November 2014, in Pienaar in the district of KaBokweni.
She said he also committed some of the offences with other accomplices.
Zulu pleaded not guilty but was linked to the crimes through forensic evidence.
