Police in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga have instituted the 72-hour activation plan after an armed gang stormed the Dwarsloop Mall in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlahla says according to information, approximately 30 suspects, armed with handguns and rifles, stormed into the said Mall where they broke into several shops.
“It is reported that the suspects used explosives to gain access to cash inside the safes,” he said.
Brigadier Mohlala says the suspects fled with the stolen items, the value of which is still to be determined.
He said a 72-hour Activation Plan is in place and a team of investigators under the leadership of the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has been assembled to probe the robbery.
