Security officer killed in Uitenhage store

File

A security officer was stabbed to death in a Uitenhage store following an altercation with an unknown man on Friday.

Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said 25-year-old Jason Fisher died from a wound to the neck.

She said the incident happened when a manager “noticed two suspicious females in the store” and as he was approaching them the man stepped in front and obstructed him.

Swart said the manager then called the security officer and an argument ensued.

She said the manager followed the two women out of the store as they got away and when he returned, he found the security officer involved in a scuffle with the suspect.

Swart said the security officer died on the scene while the alleged killer fled in an unknown vehicle.

“Anyone who can assist in tracing the suspect or may have information relating to the stabbing to contact D/Sgt Ricardo January on 072 217 5772, SAPS Uitenhage on 041 996 3438, their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
