Seven learners have been suspended from a high school hostel on the Garden Route, after an initiation which landed a schoolboy in hospital.

The York High School pupils in George will face a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.

Fourteen-year-old Andrew Searle in in intensive care after being hit on the head last week.

His father Sean Searle told the Cape Times that the family decided not to open a criminal case or take any action, calling it a very unfortunate incident.
