The South African Police Service says a recent article stating that suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of four brothers while being driven to school in Polokwane in Limpopo, is false.

National spokesperson, Vish Naidoo says the article carried by a media house on the East Rand in Gauteng, which suggests there have been arrests in the alleged kidnapping, is misleading.

This, after Benoni City Times, reported that the Benoni police station commander, Thabo Mphuthi confirmed that two local residents were being detained at the station in connection with the kidnapping of the four Moti brothers.

Naidoo says SAPS distances itself from the article.

“SAPS, therefore, distances itself from the said article and is again requesting that matters which are likely to place the lives of people at risk be handled with the utmost sensitivity”, he said.

He says since the alleged kidnapping on 20 October no new information has been confirmed by either the police or the family.
