Four SA National Parks officials have been arrested in connection with rhino poaching.
They were arrested yesterday afternoon after the carcasses of two rhino were found in Kruger National Park early yesterday morning.
SANParks spokesperson Wanda Mkutshulwa says all four officials were stationed in the Pretoriuskop section of the park, where 11 rhino had been killed since the beginning of the year.
She says one of the officials was a field ranger involved in the ongoing strike at the park, while the other was a traffic officer who belongs to the parks protection services unit.
Yesterday's discovery brought the total number of rhino killed in the park this year to 43, and nationwide to 80.
Mkutshulwa says 50 people were arrested in connection with poaching since the beginning of the year.
