SA records 13th death as a result of Covid 19

South Africa has recorded another COVID-19 related death, bringing the total to 13, while the number of confirmed infections with the virus nationally has risen to 1 749.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says the latest victim had stage 4 prostate cancer and died in Parklands Hospital in KwaZulu Natal.

Seven of the 13 COVID-19 fatalities have occurred in KwaZulu-Natal.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains in ICU as he receives treatment for Covid19.

The 55-year-old Johnson, the world’s first known head of government to fall ill with the virus, was conscious in a London hospital and needed oxygen but was not on a ventilator, according to Cabinet minister Michael Gove.

Britain’s foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, has taken over running the country.

Worldwide, more than 1.3 million people have been confirmed infected and over 76,000 have died from the virus.
