A 27-year-old man from Lephalale in Limpopo is expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court on Tuesday after counterfeit cigarettes to the value of R750 000 were found in his possession.
According to police, the suspect was arrested in the CBD where he was selling these cigarettes, just a few blocks away from the police station.
Police received a tip-off about an illicit trader and swooped in on the shop.
Hundreds of boxes of cigarettes of different brand names were confiscated.
