Public Enterprises Minister, Malusi Gigaba says South Africa's electricity supply and demand has been balanced.
He says despite this balance being reached, government has noticed with concern that energy is slowly becoming a scarce resource.
Speaking in Polokwane on Saturday, Gigaba urged the community to use electricity sparingly during the provincial launch of the 49M campaign in Limpopo.
The campaign, which was launched nationally in March last year, aims to encourage individuals and businesses to lead energy smart lifestyles.
