The Presidency said it would be instituting a disciplinary hearing against President Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Khusela Diko.
She took special leave from the Presidency in July in the light of an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit into matters relating to procurement by the Gauteng Department of Health.
Diko’s husband’s company, Royal Bhaca, had been awarded two PPE contracts by the Provincial Health Department which are now the subject of investigations by the Special Investigating Unit.
Minister in the Presidency, Jackson Mthembu, said the SIU has reported that while the corruption component of the investigation was ongoing, it has thus far not obtained any evidence pointing to Diko’s involvement in the awarding of the two contracts to her husband’s company or in respect of the irregularities identified in respect of such awards.
“During its investigation, the SIU did however identify a concern regarding Ms Diko’s duty to disclose all her financial interests,” Mthembu said.
He said it was on this basis that the Presidency has decided to initiate an internal disciplinary process against Diko.
