Anxious South Africans will have to wait until tonight to hear from President Cyril Ramaphosa on the outcomes of his meeting with the National Command Council.
Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu says the President is still finalising measures to be undertaken to mitigate the impact of the virus.
The Presidency said on the outlook for the period ahead, the National Command Council will consider whether the measures that are currently in place to contain the spread of Covid-19 are sufficient, and explore if additional measures are required.
The exact time will be given to the media and the nation as to when the President will speak.
The message will be broadcast on radio and television and be live-streamed online.
Ramaphosa has declared Covid-19 a national emergency and prohibited gatherings of more than 100 people.
