South Africa's Olympic Gold Medalist Cameron van der Burgh has tested positive for Covid-19.
Van der Burgh took to Twitter on Sunday calling it the worst virus he has ever endured despite being a healthy individual with strong lungs.
He says he has been struggling for two weeks and even the slightest activity like walking leaves him exhausted for hours.
Van der Burgh says athletes will continue training for the Olympics as there is no clarification regarding the summer games.
He said that it would just further expose them to unnecessary risk.
The retired swimmer urged the public to look after themselves as Covid 19 is no joke.
Meanwhile, the International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach says the 2020 Tokyo Olympics would not be cancelled.
But, he said that a postponement was an option as the world grapples with the Coronavirus pandemic.
The IOC added that a decision on the potential scenarios for the Tokyo Games "including the scenario of postponement" would be made inside four weeks.
The Games are due to get underway on July 24.
