The South African Post Office has issued a warning to the public to be aware of fake emails luring them to pay money into a fraudulent account.
Spokesperson, Johan Kruger says the emails appear to be from the Post Office alerting receivers about a parcel waiting to be collected by them.
He says the email informs the recipient that they have a package with outstanding custom fees that will be released as soon as the money is paid.
Kruger says the notice further entices them to click on a link that leads them to a website where payment to release the fictitious parcel can be made.
He says members of the public who receive the notice should delete it immediately and are reminded that the Post Office sends customers an SMS or a collection slip when they have a parcel waiting for collection.
