A truck driver who mowed down 20 people in a horror accident in Kwazulu Natal in 2022 will be in the Pongola Magistrates Court on Wednesday for sentencing proceedings to get underway.
Sibusiso Siyaya, 30, was found guilty on Tuesday on 20 counts of murder, reckless and negligent driving and for fleeing the scene of the accident.
The accident was captured on Dascham footage and showed Siyaya's truck overtaking another truck on a double barrier line before smashing into a bakkie full of school children.
The victims were aged between five and 12.
Although Siyaya later handed himself over to the police, he was denied bail as the state successfully argued that he would be a flight risk.
