A 38-year-old off-duty police constable, based at the Operational Response Service in Richard's Bay has shot and killed two brothers, aged 24 and 32 at residential cottages.
The acting national spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, Sontaga Seisa says it is alleged that the constable had an argument with the 24-year-old man about the level of noise that came from his house throughout the night.
He says further allegations are that the man responded by assaulting the constable, after which the policeman left.
The constable then walked to the police station to open a case of assault, when the man and his older brother confronted him.
Seisa says the constable shot and killed both brothers during an argument.
He was arrested on two counts of murder and will appear in the Empangeni Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
