Police management says they've been excluded from legal action to end the controversial Pretoria headquarters lease deal, even though the SA Police Service will have to pay R600m rand in rent if the case fails.
Lieutenant-general, Lea Moffome has told members of parliament that the department of public works took a decision to go to court to nullify the lease without consulting police management.
The Department of Public Works had procured more than 1300 properties for the police, which admitted paying inflated prices in many cases.
The police lease saga was the subject of an investigation by the Public Protector which led to the suspension of police commissioner, Bheki Cele and the ousting of Public Works Minister, Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde.
