Five Namibian Nationals are expected to appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates court for allegedly being part of a syndicate who scam people selling goods on OLX.
Police received several complaints from the public claiming how they were kidnapped, assaulted and scammed by people who pretended to buy their goods on OLX.
The suspects will make an appointment with the seller, before kidnapping them. They would then entrap them by putting fake drugs and fake diamonds in their bags before their accomplices, who pretend to be police officers arrive on the scene.
The 'fake' police officers will then demand a bribe as a guarantee that they would not be arrested or detained.
Victims who do not cooperate will then be assaulted and kept hostage.
The suspects will appear in court on Tuesday and face several charges.
