Police in Upington in the Northern Cape have made a breakthrough in their four-month-long investigation into the murder of an elderly woman in June this year.
A police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana says the body of the 71-year-old Judith Redelinghuys, was found floating in her swimming pool with her hands tied behind her back.
He says it was later discovered that some jewellery, had been stolen from the victim's house.
Police made their breakthrough on Wednesday when they arrested a 34-year-old man in an informal settlement near Upington.
The suspect was positively linked to the crime, which led to his arrest.
He is expected to appear in court on Friday.
