Mystery still surrounds the death of a Grade 10 learner from Hoërskool Garsfontein, whose body was found on the school's rugby field on Tuesday.
The Department of Education in Gauteng has since identified the girl as 16-year-old Mia Kühn.
MEC Matome Chiloane says they are now waiting for an autopsy result to determine the exact cause of death.
An inquest docket has been opened by police.
According to reports in the media, the learner was still at her home at midnight on Monday and it is not yet clear how she gained access to school grounds during the holidays.
Kühn's body was discovered by the school's security guard.
Meanwhile, the school issued a brief statement on their social media platforms expressing their shock, grief and condolences to the "Garsie" community at large.
The school was instructed by Chiloane not to release any statements until more information is available.
