Cash strapped consumers who still have space to tighten their belts will have to brace themselves for even higher petrol prices.
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced the petrol prices for July which will come into effect at midnight on Tuesday.
Both grades of petrol will go up by between R2.37 and R2.57 per litre.
Diesel will increase by R2.50 and R2.30 respectfully while illuminating paraffin will increase by R1.60.
Maximum LPGas will decrease by R2.18 per kg.
This is the highest petrol price ever in South Africa's history.
