According to weekend media reports, Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe cancelled a planned visit this week to former president Nelson Mandela at his Qunu home in the Eastern Cape.
Motlanthe's spokesperson, Thabo Masebe told the The Sunday Times newspaper that there was a planned visit to Mandela, but the deputy president decided to cancel to attend to state matters.
According to the newspaper, Motlanthe had reportedly scheduled to visit Mandela, and address a meeting of ANC members in Mthatha on Friday.
Motlanthe is acting president, with Zuma out the country attending a SADeC meeting in Tanzania.
