Police in Bela-Bela in Limpopo are investigating a double murder and inquest after a woman and her daughter were killed by her former boyfriend.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the double murder and suicide happened Saturday at noon.
He says it is alleged that the 38-year-old Hendrick Muzi went to the house of his former girlfriend, 34-year-old Carmen Cloete and apparently, without saying anything, killed Cloete and her 11-year-old daughter Lee, before turning the gun on himself.
It is alleged that Muzi stole the firearm used in the murder.
This follows just 24 hours after another tragedy in Piet Retief in Mpumalanga where a mother and her three children were hacked to death.
The 47-year-old woman and her three kids, twin boys, aged 11, and their six-year-old sister, were hacked to death in their home on Friday.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the murder weapon was left at the scene and the house was locked from the outside.
The daughter's father, 55-year-old Thembinkosi Shongwe has been identified as a person of interest who can assist in the investigation.
