A toddler from the town of Bokweni in Mpumalanga who wandered off into the wild was found four kilometres away from where she was last seen.
The two-year-old girl was attending church with her grandmother on Saturday and was last seen playing under a tree.
The child was reported missing and members of the local K9 Search and Rescue team were dispatched.
The search had a happy ending when the tired child was discovered by an officer.
She was taken to the nearest hospital for observation.
Police urged parents to always keep an eye on their children and reminded the public that there is no waiting period to report a person missing.
