Police in Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga are searching for a 21-year-old mother of three young children who allegedly left her kids alone to go drinking at the local taverns over the weekend.
A police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi says a concerned neighbour raised the alarm after the kids, aged one, three and five, were left alone in the house to fend for themselves.
When the mother did not return the next day, neighbours called police who found the kids alone without adult supervision.
Brigadier Hlathi says when police phoned the mother the calls went unanswered and they opened up a case of child neglect.
He says the children are currently in the care of a man who is the father of one of the children while police search for the mother.
