A suspect arrested with the possession of drugs to the street value of R200 000 is expected to appear before a court in KwaZulu Natal on Thursday.
The 32-year-old was nabbed on Tuesday after police found 3372 mandrax tablets inside a loose compartment of his vehicle.
Spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said they received a tip-off about a vehicle transporting drugs from Gauteng to Newscastle.
Officers were then placed on strategic points in the area. The driver was subsequently intercepted at around 19:30 PM on the N11 Road in Ingogo.
She said R1000-00 in cash was also confiscated from the suspect.
He will appear before the Newcastle Magistrates Court soon.
