Two men have been arrested for the rape and murder of an elderly woman in Pietermaritzburg.
The 74-year-old Ngenzeni Zuma was attacked in her Sweetwaters home this past weekend by assailants who pretended to be from the SANDF.
It's understood she let them in after they claimed to have been sent to sanitise her house because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Her body was found by her grandson on Sunday.
The suspects aged 24 and 27 allegedly raped and strangled Zuma to death.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the 27-year-old suspect was arrested at his home in KwaShange while the 24-year-old was traced and arrested in Durban.
She said police investigation also linked the pair to a rape of a 20-year-old woman who was allegedly raped on the same night.
Colonel Mbele said the two would also be charged for another rape incident.
She added that the suspects would be profiled to determine if they could be linked to other pending cases in the province.
