The Presidency says former president Nelson Mandela is "not in any danger" and is in a "satisfactory condition" in hospital.
Spokesperson, Mac Maharaj says Mandela is expected to be discharged on Sunday or Monday.
He says Madiba is fine and fully conscious and the doctors are satisfied with his condition, which they say is consistent with his age.
Maharaj says he was in good health before his admission to hospital, but underwent a diagnostic procedure as part of his ongoing medical management.
