Man mauled to death by his dogs - body found in garden

Police in Lichtenburg in the North West has opened up an inquest docket after a man was mauled to death by his three dogs.

Spokesperson Captain Sam Tselanyane says the 60-year-old man was killed on Saturday afternoon.

He says it is alleged that the deceased's wife was busy on the other side of the house when she heard the dogs barking, she did not raise the alarm as they live in a busy street where the dogs are often barking.

Captain Tselanyane says the woman went inside the house to look for her husband and found him motionless outside in the garden.

He says the SPCA took away the two staffie/pitbull crossings and one unknown breed.
