A man has been arrested in Pretoria for the possession of a dead crocodile.
Tshwane metro police says the man was travelling in his bakkie near the Pretoria CBD when he was stopped by police during a routine check today.
Spokesperson Console Tleane says the dead crocodile of 1.8 metres in length, was found in the back of the man's bakkie.
The man claimed he had found the animal on a chicken farm in Wallmansthal north of Pretoria, adding that the animal was killed as it had threatened the chickens.
The 63-year-old man faces a possible 10 years in prison or a substantial fine if found guilty.
