President expresses condolences with air crash victims' families

President Jacob Zuma has expressed condolences to the families of 11 people killed in an SA Air Force plane crash this week.

Zuma says in a statement that the tragic incident has caused great anguish to the families and to all South Africans.

He described it as an incalculable loss not only to the air force, but to the SA National Defence Force and the entire country.

There were six crew and five passengers on board when the aircraft crashed on Wednesday.

It crashed in the Drakensberg en route to Mthatha after taking off from Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria.
