The Hawks have arrested a Limpopo prosecutor on charges of corruption.
The 48-year-old prosecutor, who works at the Thohoyandou Magistrates’ Court was arrested on Friday for allegedly demanding a R6000 “gratification” from a man charged with reckless and negligent driving.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, said the money was meant to make the case “disappear”.
“The alleged kickback was reported to the Hawks and a sting operation was initiated, which culminated in the prosecutor’s arrest soon after accepting the money,” he said.
Maluleke said the prosecutor would appear in court on Monday on a charge of corruption.
