A 52-year-old male nurse was denied bail on Friday for killing seven of his family members in Malamulele in Limpopo on Christmas Day last year.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Azwidohwi Ndou, allegedly shot and killed them following a dispute over the family home.
Four children, aged between one and 12, were among those killed.
NPA spokesperson, Mashudu Dzhangi says Ndou was taken into custody after he handed himself over to Limpopo police.
"During his bail application in the Malamulele Magistrate's Court, Ndou testified that he was a professional nurse at Mahikeng Hospital and that he would lose his job and would suffer financial loss as he would lose his movable property and his land if he was kept in custody", she said.
Dzhangi says the case was postponed to 22 April 2022 for further investigation.
