An Intercape bus, traveling from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape to Pretoria with 86 passengers on board got stuck on the R30 between Allanridge and Bothaville in the Free State on Saturday morning due to flooding.
Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng said in a statement they were experiencing heavy rains in the province.
He said the bus driver ignored road signs that clearly indicated that the road was closed due to flooding.
Thakeng said members of the police dive unit were activated and they managed to rescue the passengers
He said no injuries were reported.
