A Verulam prosecutor's been slapped with a R10 000 fine for theft.
This after a bar fridge, a kettle, a vase and two bedside lamps were stolen from the room of a Verulam hotel, he'd stayed at.
Mzwandile Matshoba was handed a fine or 10 months behind bars for the 2018 crime.
The NPA's Natasha Kara says after hotel staff reported the items missing, the 57-year-old advocate was asked to pay for them, however, he refused and the hotel laid a charge against him.
The insurance company settled the hotel's loss and eventually Matshoba settled the amount with them for R5 000.
The prosecutor received a wholly suspended sentence as he had paid the money and was a first time offender.
