The Hawks have arrested a 58-year-old man after heroin with a street value of R1.8 million, was found concealed in the dashboard of his car.
According to a statement, Nadaragen Chetty was arrested this week at the Mariannhill Toll Plaza following a tip-off about drugs being transported from Johannesburg to Durban.
Hawks members spotted and intercepted Chetty’s vehicle.
“A search was then conducted and ten packs of heroin powder with the street value of approximately R1.8 million were found concealed in the dashboard.”
Chetty appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody until next week when he is expected to apply for bail.
