A Kwazulu Natal policeman is being hunted by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for fatally wounding a man following an argument over a “torch light”.
IPID said in a statement that the incident took place in Inanda in the early hours of Sunday morning near a liquor outlet when the Constable was embroiled in an argument with a 28-year-old man.
“The argument led the Constable to fetch his police issued pistol from his vehicle. Upon returning the Constable fired five shots injuring a 28-year-old male,” IPID said.
The wounded man was taken to a clinic where he was certified dead.
“The Constable disappeared from the scene and he is still being sought for his actions,” the watchdog body said.
