The Democratic Alliance has confirmed that its former Chief Whip, John Steenhuisen, is the party's new Parliamentary Leader.
Chairperson of the DA's Parliamentary Caucus, Annelie Lotriet said in a brief statement on Sunday that the position was uncontested with only one nomination.
Last week, the official opposition was rocked when former leader Mmusi Maimane, former Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Athol Trollip, chief executive officer Paul Boughey and Johannesburg mayor, Herman Mashaba resigned from the party.
This followed days after former party leader, Helen Zille was elected to the DA’s powerful position of Federal Council chair.
