Eskom's former CEO Matshela Koko is top trending on Twitter on Thursday following reports of his arrest by the Hawks.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that eight suspects had been arrested in connection with fraudulent activity at the Kusile Power Station involving several billion Rand.
The accused were arrested in Gauteng and Mpumalanga early on Thursday morning and will all appear in the Middelburg Magistrates Court.
The accused are to be arraigned on charges arising from alleged irregular contracts granted for the building of Kusile Power Stations valued at over R2 billion.
Although suspects may only be named once they have appeared in court, News24 identified some of them as Former Eskom CEO Koko, his wife and stepdaughter.
