Six people were killed on Monday night and several others are missing after 4 vehicles were swept away by flood waters at Ermelo in Mpumalanga.
ER24 says the drivers of a taxi, a bakkie and two cars had tried to cross a low-level bridge.
The bridge then apparently gave way because of heavy rains in the area.
Maroela Media reports that paramedics retrieved 6 bodies from the water and treated 8 people at the scene before taking them to hospital.
Police and rescue personnel are scouring the area for a number of people still listed as missing.
