A 43-year-old truck driver involved in the horrific accident in Jozini in Kwazulu Natal this week appeared in the Umbombo Magistrates' Court on Friday.
Sipho Ntuli was charged with drunk driving and eight counts of culpable homicide.
The accident, which was captured on CCTV Camera shows Ntuli ploughing into a truck, two busses, a taxi, a bakkie and a vehicle.
Thirty-two people were injured in the accident.
Ntuli will remain behind bars until his next court appearance on the 19th of June when he is expected to apply for bail.
