Four suspects, including Joslin Smith's mother, accused of kidnapping the six-year-old, appeared briefly in the Vredenberg Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The first grader mysteriously disappeared last month and has still not been found.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) identified the accused as Jacques Rowhan Appolis, 31, Steveno Dumaizio Duwayne Van Rhyn, 27, Racquel Chantel Smith, 32, and Phumza Sigaqa whose age is unknown at this stage.
They will be charged with trafficking of persons for exploitation and kidnapping.
They will remain in custody until their next court appearance on the 13th of March.
Police Spokesperson Malcolm Pojie says the search for Joshlin continues unabated.
Detectives from Cape Town have also descended on the West Coast town of Saldanha where Joslin disappeared.
Blood-stained items found during a search over the weekend have been sent to the Plattekloof forensic laboratory for analysis as part of the investigation.
