Police have arrested 91 people in and around Johannesburg in connection with the spate of violence and looting of shops owned by foreign nationals.
Spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini says those responsible for looting were nothing but criminal opportunists.
The violence started in Pretoria last week after a taxi driver was allegedly shot by a drug dealer.
Several shops in the CBD were looted and burnt leaving a trail of destruction which eventually spread to Johannesburg.
Dlamini says those arrested will be charged with public violence, malicious damage to property and theft.
