Police investigate "sudden reappearance" of child who was allegedly abducted

A 6-year-old Grade-R girl who was allegedly kidnapped outside her school in Vanderbijlpark on Monday morning has been reunited with her family.

National Police Spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidu says Amy-Lee de Jager was allegedly grabbed out of her mother's arms outside Laerskool Kollegepark, before reportedly being abducted by four men.

He says police are investigating the circumstances around her disappearance as well as her sudden reappearance.

Naidu says the child was taken for a medical check-up and was found to be unharmed.

He appealed to the public to allow the investigation to take its course.

A private investigator Wendy Pascoe who specialises in tracing missing children was quoted in TimesLive as saying the de Jager disappearance was "beyond strange".
